Transfer Injunction Nixed

A U.S. District Court judge has turned down an effort by two nonprofit organizations to block transfers of Northern California water for irrigation uses in the San Joaquin Valley.
A preliminary injunction had been sought by AquAlliance and the California Sportfishing Protection Alliance. The plaintiffs had contended the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, by permitting such a transfer to the San Luis and Delta-Mendota Water Authority, were jeopardizing the protected Delta smelt, an endangered species.
