Westlands W.D.

$1 Billion Claim Denied

The U.S. Court of Claims has dismissed a $1 billion claim by the Westlands Water District that the U.S. government should pay for failing to build a drainage system.
A judge cited a number of technical and legal reasons, but specifically rejected Westlands’ claims that the United States was legally bound by multiple contracts dating to the 1960s to complete a drainage system to dispose of selenium-laced ag drainage water.
