Tulare Irrigation District Cancels Water Deliveries
The current dry year has delivered a knockout punch for Tulare Irrigation District water deliveries.
General Manager J. Paul Hendrix said TID will have no water run for only the fourth time in its history.
“Our net supply this year rivals the dry year of 1977 and is less than was available in 1987 and 1990,” the other years in which no run was made, he said.
A lack of water supply along with obligations created by river Restoration flows are the cause.
Meanwhile, Lower Tule River Irrigation District General Manager Dan Vink reported, “Right now we are planning on a very short run for later in the summer. That could change if conditions worsen. Even at that, we may have to choose to run only part of our system as anything less than 12 days doesn’t pencil out.”
