USDA Grants $4.1 Million For Drought Projects

Eleven Tulare County communities will share in $4.1 million in emergency drought water assistance from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
The Visalia Times-Delta reported that funds will be used in a variety of ways, including drilling new wells and improving equipment. The Visalia engineering firm of Keller and Wegley assisted in securing seven of the grants.
The grants are for municipal and industrial water supply improvements. They include the:
• Alpaugh Community Services District — $250,000.
• City of Farmersville — $500,000.
• Earlimart Public Utility District — $500,000.
• Lindsay-Strathmore Irrigation District — $65,500.
• London Community Services District — $500,000.
• Pixley Public Utility District — $500,000.
• Poplar Community Services District — $462,000.
• Strathmore Public Utility District — $28,500.
• Terra Bella Irrigation District — $287,100.
• Teviston Community Services District — $500,000.
